Prosthesis

A dental prosthesis that replaces lost teeth is custom-made. The dental prosthesis, which is produced in line with the personal needs of the patient, should fit the person’s mouth perfectly, look natural and have an easy-to-use feature. Dental prosthesis can be used to replace one or a few lost teeth, or it can be used to replace all teeth. However, in dental prosthesis applications, the protection of the existing teeth in the patient’s mouth is at the forefront. Dental prosthesis is produced in the most suitable tones for the bone color of the person. Thus, the person’s prosthetic tooth color has a natural appearance. The main purpose of dental prosthesis application is to regain the lost chewing function of the person. With the recovery of the chewing efficiency of the person, the quality of life is also increased. In addition to all these, the psychological effects of broken, discolored or deformed teeth are also eliminated.

What are the types of prosthetic teeth?
Teeth, which are an important part of the digestive system, are extremely important for human health. Dental prostheses, which should be the last choice in dental treatment, are mostly applied in cases that cause tooth loss such as tooth decay, tooth fracture or insufficient filling. In other words, if the discomfort in the tooth cannot be corrected with the treatment applied, the person can benefit from dental prosthesis treatment. In the prosthesis application, it is essential to protect the existing healthy teeth of the person. In general, there are two different types of dental prostheses, fixed and removable:

MOVABLE PROSTHESES

Removable prostheses are also called palate prostheses. It is ensured that they stand in the mouth by taking support from the patient’s mucosa or remaining teeth. Such prostheses are difficult to get used to and difficult to use. It is difficult to use because they can be dislodged by chewing forces and food can get under them. They are often preferred only because they are economical.

Full palate dentures (Total dentures)
Partial palate prosthesis (Partial prosthesis)

prosthesis with hook
Concealed hook prosthesis (Precision retained prosthesis)

Implant-removable prosthesis

There are three types of removable prostheses.

What is the Purpose of Dental Prosthesis?
While trying to regain the lost functions of the patient with dental prosthesis, it is also aimed to correct the deteriorated speech and to improve the aesthetic appearance. Thus, while the oral health, which has been lost to a large extent, is restored, individuals who have to live with missing or destroyed teeth in the society are also supported psychologically. Because individuals who have to continue their lives (even for a while) in this way, first of all forget to laugh. This, in addition to functional disorders, causes damage to the sense of self-confidence in people. It is aimed to increase the quality of life of people with various prostheses made for such patients.

How Should Prosthetic Teeth Be Cleaned?
Cleaning of removable dentures is done with some cleaning agents. Prostheses are cleaned by means of an effervescent tablet placed in water. If a denture cleaning agent is not available, the denture can be cleaned with a toothbrush or denture brush. In addition, partial removable dentures can be removed from the mouth and the existing teeth in the mouth can be cleaned, and the prosthesis can be replaced. However, in total dentures, it is sufficient for the patient to remove the teeth and rinse his mouth.

Why should you clean your dentures daily?
Daily cleaning is important to prevent plaque, food debris, and tartar buildup, which can cause the following problems:

Appearance and aesthetic problems,
bad breath
Irritation of the tissue under the prosthesis
Infection in the mouth.
